Information releases

  • Government Finance Statistics (Local Government)
    This release presents an economic analysis of local government financial activity in New Zealand. The analysis is based on concepts and principles developed by the International Monetary Fund. This release does not include any analysis of individual local authorities.
  • Local Authority Financial Statistics
    This release presents annual accounting-based income, expenditure, and financial position information for each local authority in New Zealand. Income and expenditure data is split into three groups: current operations, non-operating transactions, and capital transactions. It also contains a breakdown of income and expenditure from and on current operations, by activity.
  • Local Authority Statistics
    This release presents the latest quarterly estimates of the accounting-based income and expenditure for current operations of New Zealand's local authorities, at a national level. Unlike the Local Authority Financial Statistics release, this release does not include any income and expenditure estimates for non-operating and capital transactions. It also does not include any estimates or analysis for individual local authorities.
